Twerking NYPD Detective stars as str!pper in rap video
Detective Melissa Mercado, a seven-year veteran of the NYPD, is going viral after swapping her police uniform for a bra and G-string to dance as a video vixen in a music video.
New York rapper S-Quire released his "Doin That" music video in early February, but views skyrocketed this week after Mercado was recognized. Directed by Picture Perfect and distributed by WorldStarHipHop, the video opens with close-up shots of the detective twerking on stage in an empty bar as S-Quire raps about pole dancing and partying.
Mercado’s appearance in the video extends beyond the str!p club scenes, as she is also seen twerking in a thong in a VIP section and posing in lingerie on a bed.
According to the New York Post, Mercado earns $144,000 a year as a detective in the Bronx Special Victims Unit. Despite the attention her video appearance has drawn, she appears to be in the clear as far as any departmental violations are concerned.
A police union source told The Post that Mercado is a capable officer and that the general consensus is she is free to use her personal time as she wishes, as long as she is not breaking the law.

S-Quire has yet to comment on the situation, but the video is rapidly gaining traction, surpassing one million views and counting.
