Austin Okai, a prominent chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), has announced his resignation from the party.
Okai, a well-known socio-political activist from Kogi State, confirmed to DAILY POST on Monday that he has officially joined the African Democratic Congress (ADC).
Before the prolonged leadership crisis within the PDP, Okai had been one of the party’s most visible spokespersons, frequently granting interviews to national newspapers and television stations.
DAILY POST also reports that many politicians from various political parties recently defected to the ADC during the party’s formal unveiling in the Kogi West Senatorial District.
At the event, which was held over the weekend, former lawmaker Senator Dino Melaye described the ADC as the only credible alternative for Nigerians, expressing concern over the worsening economic hardship in the country.
Melaye criticized the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), asserting that its policies have made life increasingly difficult for citizens and that widespread hunger and starvation persist across the nation.
